Right after the “Motherland” photography exhibition held at Harvard University on April 14, a conference on “Uyghurs and the preservation of Uyghur culture” was held on April 15.<\/p>\n

The conference was organized in cooperation with the Uyghur Academy and the Harvard University Uyghur Association. Harvard University freshman Kawsar Yasin, who was one of those who contributed to the organization of the conference, first made a brief statement about the conference on “Uyghur Massacre and Uyghur Culture”, and then Ri\u015fat Abbas made the opening speech.<\/p>\n

In his speech, Doctor Ri\u015fat Abbas emphasized that it is more important than ever to bring up the issues in this field in the current situation where the Uyghurs are massacred.<\/p>\n

At the first stage of the meeting, Z\u00fcbeyre \u015eemsettin, an employee of the Uyghur Human Rights Foundation in Washington, spoke first. Combining the personal experiences of herself and her brothers in prison, she succinctly described how the Chinese government destroyed the language and culture of the Uyghurs.<\/p>\n

Alfidar Eltabir, president of the American Uyghur Association, talked about the issue of Uyghur girls, one of the main targets of the massacre in the Uyghur region.<\/p>\n

In the second stage of the meeting, the tragic fate of the Uyghurs, who are the most important victims of the massacres carried out by the Chinese government in our country, Dr. Presented by Bill Clark. Stating that the Chinese government took Uyghur youth to China to ‘take them to modernity’, Dr. Bill Clark also talked about the assimilation of children by being separated from their educational families.<\/p>\n

Rushan Abbas, head of the Uyghur Movement Organization, one of the Uyghur activists, talked about what the Chinese government is doing to suppress freedom of expression and expand cross-border repression.<\/p>\n

Activist Jewher Ilam emphasized to the audience that the supply chain associated with forced labor in China is now confusing almost everyone in the Western world, so it is everyone’s responsibility to work together against it.<\/p>\n

Kawsar said that in addition to the organization of this event, on April 16, they organized a special event on selected works from Uyghur literature.<\/p>\n
